IPTV troubleshooting: buffering, freezing and login errors
Nine out of ten playback problems come from the home network, not the service. Work through this checklist in order — each step takes a minute or two — and stop as soon as the picture is steady.

Steps
- Restart everything, in order
Unplug the modem/router for 30 seconds, plug it back in, wait two minutes, then restart your streaming device.
- Test the speed on the device itself
Use the device’s browser or a speed-test app. You need about 10 Mbps per Full HD stream and 25 Mbps per 4K stream.
- Move to a wired or 5 GHz connection
Ethernet is best. On Wi-Fi, use the 5 GHz network and keep the router out of cabinets and away from microwaves.
- Pause heavy downloads
Game updates, cloud backups and other streams on the same network compete for bandwidth.
- Check your connections
If more screens are watching than your plan allows, the extra one will stop. Close the app on devices you aren’t using.
- Turn off VPNs and proxies
They add distance and can slow streams. Try without, then re-enable if you need them.
- Check date and time
A wrong clock makes secure logins fail. Set the device to automatic date and time.
- Clear the app’s cache and update it
Outdated apps cause many errors. On Android/Fire TV: Settings → Apps → Clear cache.

Frequently asked questions
Can my internet provider slow down IPTV?
Canada’s net-neutrality rules (CRTC) generally prohibit providers from slowing specific services. Most slowdowns come from Wi-Fi coverage or peak-hour congestion in the home or neighbourhood.
