How to set up IPTV on a Smart TV
Most Smart TVs sold in Canada since 2018 can run IPTV Canada directly — no extra box needed. You install the player app from your TV’s own app store, enter your activation details, and you’re watching.
Compatible devices
- Samsung Smart TV (Tizen), 2018 or newer
- LG Smart TV (webOS 4.0 or newer)
- Hisense (VIDAA U4 or newer)
- Older models: use a Fire TV or Android TV device instead
Steps
- Connect the TV to the internet
Use an Ethernet cable if you can (Settings → General → Network). On Wi-Fi, choose your 5 GHz network.
- Open the TV’s app store
Samsung: Smart Hub → Apps. LG: the Apps / LG Content Store icon. Hisense: VIDAA Store.
- Install the player app from your activation email
Search for the exact app name we sent you and install it. Only use the app store built into your TV.
- Enter your activation details
Open the app and type the details from your email exactly as written. Some apps show a code on screen to confirm on our activation page instead.
- Set your time zone and language
In the app settings, choose your Canadian time zone so the program guide shows local times, and pick English or French.
- Start watching
Open the guide, choose a category and press OK. Add favourites with the remote’s OK or options button.

Frequently asked questions
Can my Smart TV play IPTV in 4K?
Yes, if it’s a 4K model, the title is available in 4K and your connection gives at least 25 Mbps to the TV. Built-in TV apps handle 4K well on 2020-and-newer models.
My TV is older than 2018 — can I still use IPTV?
Yes. Plug an inexpensive streaming device such as a Fire TV Stick or a Google TV device into a free HDMI port and follow that device’s guide.
