IPTV Ontario: Toronto, Ottawa and beyond

IPTV Canada works across Ontario on any fibre, cable or fixed-wireless internet plan. Most of the province uses Eastern time, but northwestern Ontario — Kenora, Dryden and Rainy River — runs on Central time, so set your guide accordingly.

City-by-city tips — Ontario

TorontoCondo towers mean dozens of Wi-Fi networks on the same floor. The 5 GHz band or a wired connection makes the biggest difference.
OttawaA bilingual capital — switch the app and guide language between English and French at any time.
Mississauga & BramptonLarge multilingual households often need 3 to 5 connections so everyone can watch their own programs.
HamiltonOlder brick homes can block Wi-Fi between floors; a mesh system helps reach the basement TV.
London & Kitchener-WaterlooStudent rentals share one connection — a 2-connection plan keeps roommates from bumping each other off.

Getting the best picture in a condo

High-rise buildings in Toronto, Mississauga and Ottawa are some of the busiest Wi-Fi environments in Canada. If your picture is perfect at noon but stutters at 9 pm, it’s usually neighbouring networks, not your internet plan.

Put the router in the open, use the 5 GHz network for the TV, and if the TV sits more than one room away, run a flat Ethernet cable or add a mesh point. Our troubleshooting guide covers each step.

Rural and northern Ontario

Outside the cities, many homes rely on fixed wireless or satellite internet. Low-earth-orbit satellite services generally provide enough speed for Full HD; choose 4K only if your speed test shows 25 Mbps or more on the streaming device.

At the cottage, remember that each device streaming at the same time uses one connection — the TV in the city and the tablet at the lake count as two.
